The environment in which I live has always had a major impact on my work. Now I make my home in Connecticut, in the middle of the woods, surrounded by trees, rocks and sky, with only the sounds of birds, the wind and a waterfall.

The transparency of light, the shape of shadows, the tactility of surrounding nature have brought me to the need for a different concept of what a landscape has to be; not the traditional rendering of depth but, more important, to be in the center of everything.

The choice of acrylic, charcoal, pencil and sumi black ink gave me the opportunity for a more transparent and a more graphic approach. A certain friability has come into my work, expressing the fragility of our human and natural condition.
